Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt advanced by 27 points to reach 43 out of 100 in state budget transparency in 2019, up from 16 points in 2015, the Open Budget Survey 2019 released by the International Budget Partnership (IBP) showed.
The most populous Arab nation’s score is slightly down from the global average score of 45 points, making it the second highest country in the Middle East, along with Morocco, following Jordan, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Finance on Thursday.
Among 117 countries, the North African nation moved up four places to come in at the 61st position.
Egypt achieved 15 points in terms of public participation in 2019, exceeding the global average of 14, compared to 11 points in 2017 and scored 50 points in budget oversight.
