Egypt attracts $9.8bn foreign investments in FY16/17

Cairo – Mubasher: Foreign investments in Egypt’s domestic debt instruments rose to $9.8 billion in fiscal year 2016/2017, Reuters reported on Sunday, citing deputy minister of finance for monetary policies Ahmed Kouchouk.

Foreigners’ investments in treasury bills (T-bills) amounted to $1.25 billion in June, and to about $9 billion since the flotation of the Egyptian pound, Kouchouk said, according to the agency.

In FY15/16, foreign investments in Egypt’s domestic debt instruments stood at $1.1 billion, Kouchouk concluded.
