Egypt bourse hits 100-day low

Cairo – Mubasher: The benchmark EGX30 index of the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) fell at Tuesday’s close by 0.72% or 86.26 points to the level of 11,937.67 points; its lowest level in 100 days.

The EGX70 index dropped 0.65% to 473.36 points, the EGX100 index declined 0.50% to 1,140.77 points, and the EGX50 index shrank 1.28% to 1,862.84 points.

The market capitalisation decreased EGP 3.53 billion to EGP 588.8 million.

Trading volume reached 254.4 million shares, as turnover amounted to EGP 1.2 billion.

Net sales by Arab and foreign investors reached EGP 82.9 million and EGP 9.17 million, respectively, while net purchases by local investors amounted to EGP 92.10 million.

Egyptian Iron and Steel slid 7.87%, Telecom Egypt fell 6.06%, Arab Cotton Ginning slipped 5.87%, and TMG Holding declined 5.8%.

The Commercial International Bank - Egypt (CIB) slid 1.01% to EGP 71.3.
