Egypt bourse opens on lower note

Cairo – Mubasher: Cairo bourse's main indices saw a slide by 10:50am Cairo time on Tuesday.

The main index EGX30 fell 57 points, or 0.7%, to 8,216 points.

The small and mid-cap index EGX70 was 0.14% lower to 362.2 points.

The broader index EGX100 moved down by 0.3% to 801.4 points.

The equal-weighted index EGX50 declined 0.2% to 1413.3 points.

Egyptians were net buyers by EGP 21 million, while foreign and Arab investors were net sellers by EGP 8.7 million and EGP 12.3 million respectively.

Trading value reached EGP 209 million after 166 million shares were traded in 5,900 transactions.

Out of 106 traded stocks, 49 were up, 17 down, and 40 flat.

OTMT was the most active stock in terms of volume and value after trading 64.7 million shares at EGP 38.9 million through 794 transactions.

Earlier, head of capital market committee at the African Economic Council Ayman Fouda expected the stock market to see slight losses very early at open on profit-takings, but to recover once again on blue-chips and key indices amid higher liquidity ratios at close.
