Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) is currently establishing nine smart cities in Upper Egypt, the minister of housing Assem El-Gazzar said in a statement on Wednesday.
Investments of housing, water, and wasterwater facilities in these cities have reached EGP 11 billion to date, El-Gazzar revealed.
The new smart cities are expected to accommodate about 4.5 million people, El-Gazzar added, noting that the real estate projects in these cities will create 1.4 million jobs.
Industrial establishments and workshops will be built on about 10% of the total area of these cities, while tourism projects will be established on a 1,050-feddan waterfront plot overlooking the Nile River.
