Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt has purchased 2.7 million tonnes of wheat from local farmers since the beginning of this harvest season, the state-run Al Akhbar newspaper reported on Sunday.
The world’s largest wheat importer plans to buy 3.6 million tonnes of local wheat during the season, which began in April.
Previously, the country’s ministry of supply and internal trade announced the procurement of 2.2 million tonnes of local wheat since mid-April.
