Cairo-Mubasher: The Egyptian government has bought 4.883 million tonnes of local wheat since the beginning of supply season in mid-April, according to a press release by the Ministry of Agriculture.
The supply season for this year will end in mid-June.
The country purchased 5.3 million tonnes of wheat from farmers in 2015, compared to 3.7 million tonnes in 2014.
Egypt pays a fixed price of EGP 420 per ardeb (equal to roughly 150 kg).
