Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s Public Authority of Supply will import 410,000 tonnes of wheat from Russia through a bid won by five global firms.
It is scheduled that Egypt will start to receive the wheat as of 10 March, according to a press release.
The authority added that it finalized a bid to import 60,000 from Ukraine at the beginning of last week.
The authority buys wheat through commodity exchanges and different sources like Russia, France, Ukraine, Romania, US, Austria, and other countries to secure its strategic reserve.
Egypt, the largest wheat importer in the world, consumes about 15 million tonnes of wheat yearly, according to official figures.
