Cairo-Mubasher: The General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC) has signed a contract to purchase 60,000 Romanian tonnes of wheat at an average price of $190.88 per tonne.
The supply will last 10 days starting 10 March 2016.
The move aims to ensure the state's strategic reserves of wheat, which are enough until the middle of May 2016, said Minister of Supply Khalid Hanafi.
He added that the deal is to provide the private sector with wheat at lower prices.
GASC imports wheat from global bourses, such as those of Russia, Romania, Canada, France and Argentine, Hanafi said, noting that tenders are awarded to the offers of lowest prices and highest quality.
