By Mahmoud Salah Eddin

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s central bank issued Sunday around $1 billion in exceptional financing for banks to cover temporary credit facilities awarded to clients, which amount to $4 billion, said a head of treasury at a local bank.

The official told Mubasher that yesterday’s auction was aimed to cover the second tranche of facilities with the aim of facilitating trade and import activities and prevent delay in commodities at ports.

He also noted that the pound exchange rate amounted to 7.74 per dollar; a piaster higher than the periodic dollar auction.
