Cairo – Mubasher: The Central Bank of Egypt maintained the Egyptian pound’s exchange rate (XE) at Tuesday’s regular FX auction, said a treasury offiicer preferred to remain anonymous.
The bank of Egypt sold today $118 million at EGP 8.78 per dollar, the source added.
Meanwhile, the black market’s exchange rate steadied at EGP 12.75/dollar for purchase and EGP 12.6/dollar for sale, a trader told Mubasher.
The government would issue EGP 121.25 billion ($13.63 billion) in treasury bills and bonds during August, higher 45.6% year-over-year from EGP 83.25 billion ($9.36 billion).
