Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt's General Authority for Supply Commodities cancelled its consecutive wheat purchase tender after receiving no single offer on Monday.
The reason was attributed to the world's biggest wheat importer's strict policies for buying zero-ergot grains.
Earlier, the agriculture ministry announced accepting wheat imports containing 0.05% of the fungus, which is the international standard set by the FAO. But on 28 August, Egypt decided to only receive ergot fungus-free wheat imports as per the decree no. 1117/2016.
