Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt has completed the rehabilitation of more than 1,000 kilometres (km) of irrigation canals as part of the presidential initiative of Hayah Karima (A Decent Life), the Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Mohamed Abdel Ati, said.
Work is underway to rehabilitate another 4,000 km of canals in the coming period, Abdel Ati added in a statement on Thursday.
The ministry launched the canal rehabilitation and lining project which targets the completion of 7,000 km before mid-2022 at a total cost of EGP 18 billion in a bid to rationalise the use of water resources.
