Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt reported 12 new cases for the new coronavirus (COVID-19) who were working on a Nile cruise ship travelling from Aswan to Luxor.
A Taiwanese tourist who was on the cruise ship tested positive for the new virus upon returning to her country, according to a joint statement by the Egyptian Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization (WHO) on Friday.
The infected cases, who didn’t show any symptoms for the new coronavirus, will be sent to a quarantine centre to receive proper medical care, spokesman of the health ministry Khaled Megahed said.
In addition, people who had contact with the infected cases will be quarantined and tested for the virus for 14 days, he added.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases in Egypt to 15, including one who recovered.
