Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s cotton exports rose in the second quarter of agricultural year 2016/2017 by 19.6% year-on-year, the Egyptian Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said on Sunday.
Total exports reached 134,800 quintals in Q2-16/17, compared to 112,700 quintals in the same period of the previous fiscal year.
Local consumption of cotton grew in Q2-16/17 by 67.1% to 127,600 quintals compared to 76,400 quintals in the same period last year.
The agricultural year starts in September every year, meaning the second quarter spans from December to February.
