Cairo - Mubasher: Egypt has negated Sudan allegations regarding sovereignty over the Halayeb and Shalateen region in North East Egypt, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Ahmed Abou Zaid.
It was recently reported that the Sudanese Foreign Ministry will address the United Nations in a formal letter that rejects the maritime border agreement that signed between Egypt and Saudi Arabia in 2016.
The Egyptian foreign affairs ministry said on Thursday that it will send a letter to the United Nations Secretariat to reject Sudan’s claims, clarifying that Halayeb and Shalateen cities are inhabited by Egyptians, and have always been under the country’s sovereignty.
