Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Ministry of Transport denied it has awarded the construction of the 6th October dry port tender to a consortium comprising Hassan Allam and Samcrete.
The recently published news regarding this matter on one of the websites was not accurate, the ministry said in a statement.
The bidders that requested to implement the contract are still under review and technical evaluation, the ministry stated.
The ministry has previously received bids from an alliance consisting of Hassan Allam Construction and Concorde Engineering and Contracting and a consortium comprising Elsewedy Electric and Germany’s DB Schenker.
Samcrete was not among the bidders aiming to build the 6th October dry port, the ministry noted.
The contract’s winner is set to commence construction work of the dry port in the fourth quarter of 2018 for a two-year period with initial investments of $100 million.
The awarded consortium will be given the right to manage and operate the dry port for 30 years.
It is worth noting that the transport ministry has been receiving bids for the construction of Egypt’s first dry port in the industrial zone in 6th of October City starting from 11 July 2019.
