Egypt earmarks EGP 17bn to supply natural gas to Haya Karima phase I

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian government allocated about EGP 17.2 billion to supply natural gas to more than 4 million residential units of Haya Karima (A Decent Life) phase I initiative during fiscal year (FY) 2021/2022.

This came during the signing of a cooperation protocol between the ministries of petroleum and planning to develop the Egyptian countryside as part of the initiative, according to a statement on Wednesday.

The petroleum sector is currently implementing works to supply natural gas to 1,413 villages under the first phase of Haya Karima, which covers 52 centers.

There are more than 12.5 million residential units that benefit from natural gas services in villages nationwide, according to the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El-Molla.
