Egypt economy achieves positive steps – CBE governor

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian economy has succeeded in achieving several positive steps recently, the governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Tarek Amer said in a statement.

Speaking at the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting on Thursday, Amer stated that the positive indicators highlight the success of structural reforms recently implemented.

The informs include increasing foreign currency reserves at the CBE, boosting investments compared to a year earlier, in addition to reducing imports and increasing exports, which in return raises the foreign currency levels and help achieve development goals, the governor revealed.

There is a number of new draft laws waiting to be endorsed in the near future, which will positively impact the business atmosphere in Egypt and the economic reform programme in general, he added, according to the statement.
