Egypt equities open on negative note

Cairo - Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) indices retreated collectively in Monday's early trade, as the benchmark index EGX30 went down 0.88 to reach 6,420 points.

The small and mid-cap index EGX70 inched down 0.60% to 347.5 points, while the broader index EGX100 edged down 0.37% to 742.8 points.

Similarly, the equal-weighted index EGX50 fell 0.56% to 1,092 points.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank sagged 2% to EGP 43.2 with 139,000 shares changed hands at a value of more than EGP 6 million.

The market turnover reached EGP 65 million, on trading 72.5 million shares through 2,500 transactions.

Arab and foreign investors came as net sellers with EGP 2.9 million and EGP 1.9 million respectively, while local investors came as net buyers with EGP 4.8 million.
