Egypt exempts sugar from import duties

Cairo - Mubasher: The Egyptian prime minister, Sherif Ismail, has issued on Monday a decision that exempts raw sugar imports from import duties until the end of 2017, according to an official statement.

The Egyptian Cabinet had previously exempted white sugar imports from custom tariffs until the end of May 2017; a decision that was issued last November.

Egypt's annual consumption of white sugar amounts to 3.2 million tonnes, with local production totalling 2 million tonnes.
