Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt studies the possibility of offering stakes in two public banks on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX), said Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).
The banks under study do not include either the National Bank of Egypt or Banque Misr, CBE’s governor Tarek Amer.
This move will raise both banks capital as well as will slash the government stake by 20% in each, noted Amer.
“We study offering CBE’s stake in one of its current projects to strategic investor”, said Amer.
Egypt’s CBE governor declined to name either the two banks or the project where a stake will be offered to strategic investor
