Cairo – Mubasher: Egyptian security forces have killed 12 militants early Friday in the Western Desert, about 175 kilometres southwest of Cairo, according to MENA news agency.
“Security forces dealt a severe blow to the terrorist elements in revenge for the blood of the men who were martyred last week in the oasis,” MENA added citing an unnamed interior ministry official.
The news agency indicated that no policemen were reported dead, as well as did not mention to which group the militants belonged.
On 20 October, at least 54 police officers had been killed in clashes with Islamist militants in the Al-Wahat al-Bahriya area, about 135 kilometres southwest of Cairo.
