Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian government has collected EGP15 billion from the undisputed income and sales tax arrears since July 2015/16, Head of Tax Authority Abdel-Moniem Matar told Mubasher.
Previous years’ backlog of undisputed tax arrears represent EGP10 billion out of EGP17 billion, while the disputed accumulated arrears are EGP80 billion, Matar said.
Out of EGP15.4 billion due, Matar continued, the government has received EGP5 million from sales tax arrears and the remaining is still in dispute with taxpayers.
Earlier, Matar said the government obtained EGP200 billion in tax revenues during 1 July – 28 April 2016.
