Egypt government mulls public service improvements - Minister

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s minister of finance Amr El-Garhy on Tuesday said that the government will discuss a bundle of important draft laws to improve public services, and tighten control over public spending and sovereign state resources.

These laws aim to encourage private investments, El-Garhy added in a statement, noting that the Ministry of Finance (MoF) is currently discussing some of draft laws that will boost the economy.

One of the most important draft law amendments is the one that pertains to government auctions and tenders, and which we are currently preparing in order to submit it to parliament for approval, El-Garhy revealed.

The State Council has already reviewed this particular draft law amendment, he added.

The MoF is also examining a draft law to amend some of articles of association for joint stock companies, shareholding, and limited liability companies, with the aim of attracting domestic, Arab and foreign investments.

The minister further revealed that the MoF was discussing some draft laws, including domestic navigation, establishing an executive body to supervise establishing nuclear power plants.

We are also is discussing establishing a body to regulate land transport services for passengers, the transfer of goods on roads between governorates, and international transport services, El-Garhy said in a statement.

The MoF is discussing developing non-monetary financial transactions to determine the financial impact of these laws on the general budget.
