Egypt halts talks over ports management with Singapore

Cairo – Mubasher: Head of the Suez Canal Authority, Mohab Mamish, said Wednesday that Egypt’s negotiations with Singapore to operate the southern berth of East Port Said port have been halted.

Mamish noted that Egypt reserved a request from the Singaporean side to manage the berths for 10 years.

Earlier in November 2015, the Suez Canal Authority signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Port Authority of Singapore to manage and operate maritime ports.
