Egypt imports 54 LNG shipments worth $1.4bn

Cairo-Mubasher: Egypt has received 54 shipments of liquefied natural gas (LNG) during April- December 2015, at a total value of $1.4 billion that was fully paid to global suppliers, said Hamdi Abdulaziz, spokesman of the ministry of petroleum.

He added that the country receives from sixto eight LNG shipments on a monthly basis.

The Egyptian government signed contracts with nine LNG suppliers, and such deals are proceeding normally, Abdulaziz said.

The petroleum sector is committed to fulfilling its financial obligations, said the official, denying news about delay in repaying financial dues to global companies.

The sector imports not only LNG but also huge quantities of petroleum products from global companies, noted the official.
