Cairo – Mubasher: Egyptian imports from East Asia were valued at a total of EGP 151.6 billion in 2015, higher 13.9% from EGP 133.2 billion for a year earlier, said the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) on Sunday.
The Importer list was headed by China as Egypt received goods worth EGP 74.8 billion during 2015, up 25.6% year-on-year from EGP 59.6 billion.
In the second place, India came with EGP 17.9 billion imported goods in 2015, compared with EGP 18.1 billion in the previous year.
Total value of exports to East Asia, on the other hand, lowered 37.1% year-on-year to EGP 15.5 billion from EGP 24.7 billion.
India topped the exporter list with a total value of EGP 6.9 billion in 2015, down 50.1% year-on-year from EGP 13.7 billion.
Japan was ranked second after receiving commodities worth EGP 2.6 billion in total, lower 62.5% as compared to 2014.
