Cairo – Mubasher: Total investment in Egypt’s road and bridge projects stood at EGP 22.5 billion over the past three years, MENA reported on Monday, citing transport minister Hisham Arafat.
These projects included the national road project valued at EGP 12.8 billion and the development of 2000-kilometre of current road network at a value of EGP 5.7 billion, Arafat added.
“Almost four axes have been built on the Nile at a value of EGP 1.9 billion, 18 bridges on roads, bridges on the desert road, and Cairo-Suez bridges at a total value of EGP 2.1 billion,” he continued.
The minister further noted that investments of the current road and bridge projects under construction amounted to worth EGP 32.9 billion.
These projects include the national roads project at cost of EGP 16 billion, upgrading the current roads network at a value of EGP 7 billion, executing eight axes on the Nile with investment of EGP 8.5 billion, in addition to10 bridges at an amount of EGP 1.4 billion.
