Cairo - Mubasher: The Egyptian government has agreed with Hyundai Rotem to manufacture and supply 32 air-conditioned trains for the third and fourth phase in the third line of Cairo Metro.
The Egyptian minister of transportation said that the deal’s total value reached EUR 317.8 million, in addition to EGP 640 million including taxes and other financial obligations.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation, the minister noted that the contract represents 50% of the needed trains for the new phases.
For the first time, the local component will reach around 30%, the minister noted.
