Egypt inks contracts for Dabaa nuclear power plant during Putin's visit

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi meets on Monday his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Cairo.

During the one-day visit, the two presidents will sign contracts for starting the construction of the nuclear power plant project, as well as discussing the return of Russian flights to Egypt, presidency spokesman Bassam Rady told local channel DMC.

El-Sisi and Putin are to discuss other trade issues, along with the situation in Libya, Syria and counter-terrorism efforts, Rady added.

In November 2015, Egypt and Russia signed cooperation agreement for setting up Egypt's first nuclear power plant in El Dabaa with a total value of $30 billion. The project is scheduled to be completed within 12 years.

The nuclear power plant will comprise of four units with a capacity of 1,200 megawatts of each, and is expected to generate net revenues of $264 billion over 60 years.
