Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Atomic Energy Authority (EAEA) will examine shipments of wheat and other food products coming from Russia, head of Egypt’s National Food Safety Authority (NFSA), Hussein Mansour, said.

All shipments will be inspected to ensure that they do not contain any radioactive elements, Mansour told Mubasher on Tuesday.

On 8 August, an explosion of a liquid-propelled rocket engine at a test site in Russia took place, raising radiation levels by four to 16 times the normal amount.

In 2018, Egypt imported 11 million tonnes of wheat, including 7.1 million tonnes from Russia, according to official data.
