Egypt investment climate improving – Minister

Cairo – Mubasher: The investment climate in Egypt is witnessing 'positive' developments that increase its competitiveness among global markets, said Egypt's Investment Minister Ashraf Salman.

The statement came during talks held with a number of Italian companies operating in Egypt and those wishing to enter the country's renewable energy, petrochemicals, vehicles and cement sectors.

The talks tackled those company's investments in Egypt and means to boost them.

Wrapping up his two-day visit to Rome, Salman said Egypt's development plan targets 7% economic growth and 30% average investment rate, in addition to a rise in the contribution of services sector to the gross domestic product and as well as an increase in the contribution of exports to 25% of GDP.

The country is also seeking to lower unemployment rate to 5%, added the minister.
