Egypt invests EGP 8bn to upgrade refineries – Minister

Cairo – Mubasher: Petroleum minister Tarek El-Molla on Wednesday has announced that the ministry is working on expediting the development of refineries with $8 billion in investments to be opened as scheduled.

The upgrade of local refineries will boost their capacity and performance, El Molla added, stressing the significance of stamping out any barriers to accelerate the projects in an effort to secure fuel demands of the domestic market, he added.

In the same vein, El-Molla noted that the ministry has completed about 97.3% of a project aiming at doubling the production capacity of gas 92 and 95 octane gasoline by adding 850,000 tonnes per annum in a bid to meet local market’s requirements.

It is worth noting that state-owned oil companies ENPPI and Petrojet are implementing this project.
