Egypt invests near EGP 1trn in transport sector

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt has developed several developmental projects in the transportation sector over the last six years, the Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, said.

The country is implementing a total of 7,000 kilometres (km) of roads, Madbouly added, according to a state-run TV.

Current investments in the transportation sector amounted to almost EGP 1 trillion of which EGP 442 billion has been disbursed and EGP 520 billion will be injected in the coming years.

The government is investing about EGP 86 billion in developing railways, in addition to EGP 50 billion in developing the existing airports and building new ones. 

This came during the inauguration of the fourth phase of Cairo Metro Line 3 on Sunday in the presence of the President, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
