Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Customs Authority has issued clearance of vehicles and spare parts worth EGP 3.84 billion at Alexandria Port in April, the authority’s head said on Sunday.
The government levied around EGP 1 billion in customs duties, taxes, and charges imposed on these cars last month, Kamal Negm added in a statement by the Ministry of Finance (MoF).
Alexandria Port has issued a clearance of 7,544 cars of various models at a value of EGP 1.12 billion in April, the fourth month of introducing the zero-customs duty on European cars, Negm highlighted.
The state has paid about EGP 655 million in taxes, customs duties, and charges to import these cars, he remarked.
Additionally, Alexandria Port has issued a clearance of 916 trucks, microbuses, motorcycles, and tractors at a value of EGP 724 million last month and nearly EGP 131 million in taxes and customs duties were allocated from their clearance, he said.
Moreover, the port has issued a clearance of 820 spare parts worth EGP 999 million and collected their taxes and customs duties of around EGP 103 million, Negm added.
It is worth noting that the MoF previously announced it had issued a clearance of vehicles and spare parts worth EGP 2.9 billion in March at Alexandria Port.
