Egypt likely to receive first batch of Spanish trains in March 2021

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Minister of Transport, Kamel El-Wazir, expects the arrival of the first of six air-conditioned (AC) trains purchased from the Spanish train manufacturer Talgo in March 2021.

Egypt previously signed a deal worth EUR 157 million with the Spanish firm to buy six trains and also a maintenance contract for a six-year period, El-Wazir said in a statement on Wednesday.

Moreover, the country has also taken delivery of a new batch of 1,300 railway cars as part of a EUR 1.16 billion agreement with Russia’s Transmashholding.
