Cairo – Mubasher: Egyptian trade and industry minister Amr Nassar has issued a decree to maintain the tariff imposed on raw leather exports for a year as of 2 May.
The ministerial decree No. 631 for 2017 stipulates that raw leather would be exported at a value of EGP 250 for a piece of cow or buffalo leather, at EGP 150 for a piece of young sheep leather, at EGP 15 for a piece of old sheep, according to a press release.
Moreover, the tariff on a piece of goat leather values at EGP 7.5, while it cost EGP 150 for a piece of camel leather.
The trade ministry is keen on maintaining the balance between the leather quantities and domestic demand for raw leather in order to boost the added-value of leather goods, head of the Trade Agreements and Foreign Trade Sector Amany Al-Wasl said.
The prices of raw leather have been stable since the issuance of the ministerial decree in 2017, which has been positively reflected on the final product, Al-Wasl remarked.
