Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s index of manufacturing and extractive industries, excluding crude oil and petroleum products, inched up 0.8% month-on-month in February 2018 to 123.69 from 122.65 points last January.
The increase was attributed to higher supply contracts for the production of electronics and beverages, data by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) showed on Wednesday.
The index of beverage industries surged 58.2% month-on-month to 100.36 points last February, versus 63.45 points due to higher production of carbonated and mineral drinks ahead of the summer session, the state-run agency said.
The index of machines and equipment production rose 6% to 165.38 points in February from 155.97 points a month earlier.
The index of tobacco industries fell 5.5% to 52.27 points in last February, compared to 55.34 points in January 2018 due to lower demand.
Moreover, furniture production index dropped 49.1% to 68.21 points in February from 133.98 points on a monthly basis.
