Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s index of manufacturing and extractive industries, excluding crude oil and petroleum products, decreased 9.7% month-on-month in January to 121.78 from 134.83 points.
The index of pharmaceutical and chemical products industry increased by 5.2% to 144.36 points last January, versus 137.24 points a month earlier, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said in a statement on Sunday.
Furthermore, the rubber and plastic industry index jumped by 96.1% month-on-month 77.06 points in January from 39.29 points, the CAPMAS added.
On the other hand, the food industries index fell by 35.6% to 93.05 points in January, compared to 144.49 points in December, the state-run statistics agency highlighted.
Meanwhile, the ready-made clothing industry index fell by 12.7% to 296.67 points last January, versus 339.94 points in December 2018, the agency said.
