Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s index of manufacturing and extractive industries, excluding crude oil and petroleum products, rose 2.6% month-on-month in May to 125.97 from 122.78 points.
The index of ready-made clothing increased by 30.4% to 126.03 points last May, versus 96.66 points in April, data by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) showed on Wednesday.
Moreover, the index of machines and devices production grew 25% month-on-month to 254.29 points in May from 203.43 points, the CAPMAS added.
The index of pharmaceuticals and medicines went up 19.8% to 179.38 points last May, versus 149.76 points a month earlier.
On the other hand, the index of mineral industries fell 3.8% to 76.19 points in the fifth month of the year, compared to 79.21 points in the month before, the state-run agency said.
The index of beverage and refreshments industry dropped by 47.1% in May to 58.35 points, compared to 110.33 points in April.
