Egypt manufacturing index rises 3.3% in September - CAPMAS

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s index of manufacturing and extractive industries, excluding crude oil and petroleum products, rose 3.3% month-on-month in September to 131.22 from 126.97 points.

The index of chemical materials and products increased by 16.5% to 147.19 points last September, versus 126.31 points in August, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said in a statement on Wednesday.

Moreover, the pharmaceutical, chemical, and medicine industry index increased 14.2% month-on-month to 164.75 points in September from 144.29 points, the CAPMAS added.

The index of the electronics and optical and medical devices fell to 183.08 points last September, down 21.4% from 232.86 points in August.

The index of ready-made clothing declined by 14.6% to 210.35 points in September, compared to 246.33 points in August.
