Egypt manufacturing index rises 5.6% in July - CAPMAS

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s index of manufacturing and extractive industries, excluding crude oil and petroleum products, rose 5.59% month-on-month in July to 122.33 from 115.85 points.

The index of ready-made clothing increased by 20.34% to 196.57 points last July, versus 163.35 points in June, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said in a statement on Tuesday.

Moreover, the index of furniture industry grew 20.97% month-on-month to 127.90 points in July from 105.73 points, the CAPMAS added.

On the other hand, the index of textile industry fell by 31.21% to 79.10 points in the seventh month of the year, compared to 114.99 points in the month before, the state-run agency said.
