Egypt manufacturing index slips 1.5% in November - CAPMAS

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s index of manufacturing and extractive industries, excluding crude oil and petroleum products, fell 1.5% month-on-month in November to 131.49 from 133.48 points.

The index of ready-made clothing increased by 16.3% to 251.6 points last November, versus 215.39 points a month earlier, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said in a statement on Monday.

Moreover, the food industries index increased by 13.1% month-on-month to 149.38 points in November from 132.03 points, the CAPMAS added.

On the other hand, the index of paper industry fell by 7.2% to 91.24 points in the eleventh month of 2018, compared to 98.34 points in October, the state-run statistics agency highlighted.

Meanwhile, the index of chemical products industry went down by 17.9% to 122.51 points from 149.2 points last October, the agency said.
