Cairo – Mubasher: The manufacturing industries index, without crude oil or petroleum materials, dropped by 8.4% on a monthly basis to 104.74 points in June 2017 from 114.34 points in May 2017, according to a statement by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) on Thursday.
The CAPMAS attributed the decrease in the manufacturing industries index to lower industrial activities, such as in the industries of food products and home appliances.
The beverage industry index soared 95.6% to 126.5 points in June 2017 from 65.18 points in May 2017 due to establishing a new production line of water distillation aimed at increasing the production of mineral water and carbonated drinks to meet demand in the summer.
Meanwhile, the food production index dwindled by 8.2% to 109.23 points in June 2017 from 118.99 points in May 2017 due to a breakdown in one of the sources’ production line, the end of sugar production season, and the intensive production before Ramadan.
