Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt is looking to slash licensing and registration fees for electric vehicles (EVs), a government source said.
The move aims at promoting the use of EVs and reduce dependency on fuel-powered vehicles, Enterprise reported, citing the source.
The Egyptian government has received proposals from the Parliament and companies that seek fees cut to encourage the use of EVs and prepare its infrastructure, the source added.
The government recently spurs citizens to use EVs and promotes their production in Egypt.
EV licensing fees currently cost consumers up to EGP 10,000, which is often higher than fees paid for comparably sized fuel-operated cars.
