Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) and the Ministry of Petroleum are considering the establishment of a natural gas futures exchange.
The sale and purchase of natural gas between companies and suppliers will be carried out through this futures market, Almal News reported, citing informed sources.
The gas futures exchange will be responsible for setting the sold quantities, delivery times, and pricing, the sources added, noting that the ministry and the EGX would work on the final details to form the gas futures market in the coming period.
This step came after the issuance of Egypt’s new law which liberalises the gas market and allows the private sector to enter the natural gas market.
