Egypt offers food commodities at EGP 4bn in Ramadan – Minister

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt's government will provide food commodities worth 3-4 billion for satisfying citizens' need for basic goods during Muslims' holy month, said Minister of supply Khaled Hanafy.

Along with the Holding Company for Food Industries, The government allocates the lion share of budget for offering food commodities, Hanafy added on the margin of Money and Finance Conference.

In the fiscal year 2015/16, around EGP 37.7 billion was spent on subsidized products, according to official data.

 "We target to make all commodities available at affordable prices to lighten financial overloads and to expand into state-run food commodities ' markets known as, "Welcome Ramadan", the minister concluded.
