Egypt pays EGP 1.5bn in due export subsidies - Minister

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt is currently paying due export subsidies amounting to EGP 1.5 billion owed by the Export Development Fund to 1,177 companies, the minister of trade and industry Nevine Gamea said.

This move is line with the government’s efforts to support exporters amid the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, Gamea added in a statement on Thursday.

She revealed that several exporters have managed to enter new markets as many countries have suspended or cut down production operations due to the lockdown imposed to steam the spread of the virus.
