Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt will pay EGP 368.5 million for defaulting beneficiaries for the first phase of the exceptional aid aimed at helping irregular workers affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
Nearly 737,000 defaulting beneficiaries will receive the aid from 11 until 14 May, the manpower minister Mohamed Saafan said in a statement on Monday.
The total number of beneficiaries is expected to reach 2.037 million.
Under the directives of the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, a monthly payment of EGP 500 million will be disbursed for three months to irregular workers.
The total value of the first tranche of the aid amounted to EGP 1.018 billion.
Saafan further revealed that the payment date of the second tranche will be announced before Eid El-Fitr.
